John Churcher Electrical, part of the ERS Group, was proud to play a key role in the construction and ongoing upgrades of the Principality Stadium, Cardiff’s iconic venue. During its initial construction, we provided the electrical systems for the innovative retractable roof and state-of-the-art stadium lighting.

Years later, we returned to enhance the stadium’s data and communication systems, ensuring it remained a world-class venue for televised sports and events.

Scope of Work

Initial Construction:

Retractable Roof Electrics: Installed the electrical systems to power and control the stadium’s groundbreaking retractable roof, ensuring seamless operation to accommodate all-weather events.

Floodlighting: Delivered advanced lighting systems to illuminate the pitch and seating areas, enhancing visibility for fans and broadcasters.

Lighting Controls: Installed precision lighting controls to manage energy efficiency and adapt lighting for various event requirements.

Data & Communications Networks: Provided initial data infrastructure to support stadium operations and connectivity needs.

Later Upgrades:

Enhanced Data & Communications Infrastructure: Expanded and modernised data systems to support the demands of televised football matches, media broadcasting, and operational improvements.
